The Yukata 浴衣 is an informal summer garment made mainly of cotton. It is used especially in traditional festivals held in summer, matsuri, during fireworks displays, for bon-odori dances, etc. The origin of the yukata dates back to the Heian period (794-1185), when nobles wore it after bathing.
